Fundraising for skiing trip

For this task we had to make a poster about what we read and so the hokey pokey had to make a poster about fundraising for a skiing trip. But first we had to make a discussion doc and so we split into 3 pairs. And we had to discuss about what the book is about and then write a advertisement. Then we had to make this poster about how I would fundraising for a  skiing trip.

My thoughts about the nepal earthquake was really sad because I had some friends and family at nepal and also for the people who died in the earthquake.

How has the nepal earthquake affected your life?

The earthquake has affected me because all the the people in nepal are suffering and I will do anything to help the people in nepal and at least fundraised.

Will you help the people in nepal in anyway?

If I could help in anyway I will fundraise and I will try and send some supplies.

My thoughts about the Christchurch earthquake was really sad because I had some family at Christchurch and also for the people who died in the earthquake.

What was your reaction to 2011 earthquake?

My reaction to the earthquake I was really sad and was hoping that the people and children are alright.

How has the earthquake affected your life?

The earthquake has affected me because all the the people in Christchurch are suffering and I will do anything to help the people in Christchurch.

Awesome Technology Invented by Teacher

WALT:write a lead paragraph of a news report

Today thursday 30th of april at Pt England school.the teacher of room 6 literacy class was introduced  the new technology called a makey makey technology.The makey makey technology Then Our teacher was connecting the cables to his laptop and the we watched him play tetris.

today we wrote  3 to 5 sentences for our literacy and learnt how to write a report writing

The awsome year 5/6 camp

Have you ever had an opportunity to sleep at school in tents? well our year 5 and 6 at Pt England school had their camp. Our camp was for 3 days and 2 night.

Our year 5 and 6 camp is an event  which we have ever year for the year 5 and 6’s. This has been going on 25 years now  and some of our parents was at camp back in the days. Each morning we started off with Jump Jam and Just dance before breakfast. Teachers plan fun activities for us throughout the whole day until 7:00 before we have dinner and get ready for bed.
 

One of my favorite highlights was Kayaking. First our group got changed into our togs then we started to walk down to the beach. When we got there Mr Burt was there to give us some safety tips and to give us some instruction. After Mr finished talking we all had to put on our lifejacket. I went on a single kayak it was fun but then your arms get a little tired after a while. When everyone had a turn we packed up for the next group to have their turn. It was great fun for me.

My second favorite highlight was the Mangere Pools. I was sad It was the last day but it was really fun. when all the team’s got to pools we all sat down in the front so they can tell us about the rules and the boundary. After that we all walked to the outdoor pools. Then we all got changed and had morning tea. When we jumped in the pool it was freezing cold. After a while we went into the bombing34zsw pool It was AWESOME. I did 3 back flips and heaps of Mangere bombs
I felt very exhausted after camp and when I got home I had a very long nap because of how exhausted I was. It was a very fun and cool experience at camp

When I was at camp I I was a camp leader for my team.and a team leader it is a very job being a team leader

  

River talks

Walt: write a detailed introduction with hook and orientation.

The distinguished Omaru creek is sad because back in the days kids and adults was able to swim in the creek and the fishes were able roam free. But now people can't swim and the water is not clear it is green and paru. What can we do about it and how are we going to clean our Omaru creek?

Learning about our Omaru creek is a very good experience. and we should do something about like encouraging people to help us to clean the creek. So if you see someone chucking any rubbish in the creek tell them to pick up and put it in the bin.

My holiday recount

In the holidays me and my Dad and Grandad went floundering. Before we went floundering we had to get prepared. So what we had to do was to get some materials which was a medium size stick,some spearheads and something to wrap it together.

We then had a nap just so we can have some energy. Then we woke up about 1:00 am that was very early. I was a little bit tired but I was excited at the same time. The area that we went to floundering was at the Glendowie boat club.

When we first walked in the water my feet felt icy cold it was cold and dark so the only thing we use to see was a torch. when I was walking through the cold water I was trying to spot a fish with my grandad on my left and my dad on my right. In my head I was trying to picture the fish of what color it was how it swims and what the scales look like. While we were walking my grandad spotted a flounder and so he called me over and said it to me in Tongan “you can catch the first one”. That made me happy because I get to catch my first ever flounder.

While we were walking through the cold water I could feel it getting deeper and deeper coming up to my ankle and knees. Then when my Dad and I turned around we spotted an eel so my Dad asked me for the spear and I gave it. My Dad had strike the eel and caught it around the head area. when we caught It I had to hold it so we can poke the sharp long nail into it the eel It was very slippery and slimy and it was an arm length so it was hard to hold we eventually we caught it.

When I got home I felt stocked and very happy that I got to have this experience. I took some photos after we got home then I went for a nice hot shower and then went to sleep because we got home at 6:00 am.

 For this task I learnt how to give advice about animals and to be safe. This was a task which we could decorate but not to use any themes and to create our own design.

Duffy

WALT:Follow the structure of a recount to produce a piece of writing. 

On Monday the whole of the senior group went to the Duffy show.the Duffy show was held in our school hall.the Duffy show is show that encourages people to read and they travel around the whole of New Zealand just to teach kid to read.and they are so talented.

First we went to class to get lined and to get ready to go the Duffy show. when we got to our school hall we all sat down and we played a game of simon say’s. then Duffy walked in and the actors introduced themselves. Then we sang the Duffy song, and then the play began.

The show was about a girl named Sienna  who didn’t know how to read and didn’t like to read. so Duffy was trying to help siena but she all was said that she likes television. so then Duffy took siena to the library and ask her what siena like to watch harry potter and so Duffy went and look for a harry potter. Duffy found the book and gave it to siena and she said thank you. Then she wanted to read a dinosaur book. Then she realized that her Interest were gardening.

Then the show wrapped up and we all lined up and quietly walked back to class and we got our bag and we all said “Good afternoon Mr Somerville.”

I felt happy about the Duffy show and hope maybe next year they come back.
